NYC, a great place for SHAKESPEARE....

Christina, Tamara and I met on 3/17 to kickstart the project. Within a week Christina was in NYC meeting with Rick (an executive producer Deon's working with on another script). After a nice lunch they agreed that Rick would send us a EP deal memo.

Then, Deon and Sly Kat called a week later and asked if I would come to NYC for Sly's release party. We decided Tamara should come as well and a few days later, the group of us were hanging out in a greek tavern somewhere near Cornelia St. We had a great time getting to know each other. Yolanda, Gloria, Daimus, Sly Kat and Marlon are just as excited about the project as we are. Sly's writing a song specifically for it and has sent the project to one of his friends (no names yet).

The next day we met Tamara's friends, Anthony and Ramsey about the project as well. We hung out with Sly at his show and got to meet Deon's lovely wife Hilary and daughter Kendal. Early the next morning we headed back to L.A.

The Writer

With a title like BILL SHAKESPEARE you gotta love it. This script is a great twist on that in every sense. Nothing is as it appears. A great SNATCH/PULP FICTION like story woven around two seemingly unrelated events. This is the trademark of writer, Deon C. van Rooyen. I've read all his work and he is a master of this type of storytelling. He's also got a great business sense and is one heck of a producer as well.

The two of us along with Christina Gordon and Tamara Craig Thomas, fellow producers, are working to attach just the right talent and raise the funds to produce this in late '06.
